Subaru RBC-1 Bass Knob Insert
Mount the JL Audio RBC-1 (Remote Bass Control) amplifier / subwoofer volume knob in one of those blank / unused switch spots in your Subaru Ascent / Crosstrek / Forester / Impreza / Legacy / Outback / WRX with this custom insert! (Includes 18' extension cable with RJ-11 connectors.)
You can also order this insert without the RBC-1 module if you already have one, in which case it will come with both the body, and the faceplate, as well as instructions on how to open up your RBC-1 module, extract the internals, and install them into this insert (it's fairly straightforward.)
This insert fits the larger blank positions, typically found in the top row of the two-row panel located to the left of the steering column. My understanding is that these switches are compatible with various versions of the following model years, but I will work with anyone who discovers an incompatibility I was unaware of:
Ascent: 2019 - 2022
Crosstrek: 2018 - 2025
Forester: 2019 - 2025
Impreza: 2017 - 2025
Legacy: 2015 - 2019
Outback: 2015 - 2019WRX: 2022 - 2025
Note: Switch inserts are made-to-order, and may take up to one month to ship.
This is a 3D-printed part (made of PETG), with a black, anodized aluminum faceplate complete with laser-engraved text/icon. The volume knob is a JL Audio Remote Bass Control (RBC-1) unit that has been removed from its external housing and pre-installed into the insert. (Unless you ordered it without the RBC-1 module because you already have one, in which case you'll be following THESE INSTRUCTIONS to assemble it yourself.)This will include the 18' extension cord (with male RJ-11 connectors on both ends). As you see in the photo, the knob itself comes with a female RJ-11 connector.
This seems like a simple part, and it more-or-less is, but keep in mind these are individually produced by me, and not manufactured on a large scale. The insert is 3D printed, the faceplate is CNC machined and then laser engraved, the volume knob internals are installed in the new housing. These take time to ship simply because this is a side project I do in my spare time, and my free time is limited, what with work, and autocross, and having a life and all that! The reality is they will probably ship within a week or two, but I don’t like to over-promise on how quickly folks will receive anything. I do provide a tracking number when I ship though!
